Darwin, from DB Shoes, is a men's extra wide fitting Velco close shoe which is available in also larger sizes (size 12-14) that are often hard to find, especially in wider fittings.

Darwin is a 6V fitting which means it has plenty of width and a deep toe box which will accommodate swollen feet and other medical foot conditions such as severe bunions, hammertoes and gout.

The wide Velcro strap makes them easy to put on and the strap can be cut for the perfect length.

We love the detailing on the Darwin. The contrasting sole colour and design detail around the heel collar gives this shoe a comtemporary, modern feel.

The rounded toe design also gives toes plenty of wiggle room so they don't feel cramped.

The air-cushioned insoles are designed to be removed if needed, so you can insert your own orthotics or to provide additional depth.

There is also a secondary insole which can be removed, creating plenty of options to get the right fit, regardless of your foot shape.

The shoes are made using soft leathers and have a strong and lightweight cushioned outsole which also offer excellent grip.

Comfort is assured with high grade air bubble insoles and a soft padded heel collar. The side panels are seam-free to reduce irritation for sensitive or swollen feet.

Healthy Footwear Guide approved shoe.

6V Variable Width Fitting Shoes - Adjustable Depth For Swollen Feet

A  6V fitting is an extra-wide fitting, and one of our widest. This fitting offers lots of width and extra depth in the toe area.

A 6V fitting means the fit can be adjusted to increase the depth of the shoe, increasing it from a 6E to an 8E fitting.

Additional depth in a shoe is important for conditions such as hammertoes, bunions, gout and swelling as it stops toes rubbing against the top of the shoe which can cause irritation and discomfort.

A variable fit is recommended for those who may need to adjust the fit over the day or are recovering from a procedure where the foot is swollen as the fit can be reduced as the swelling recedes.

These width fittings are not available on the high street, even at well known wide fitting shops.
